My furnace was making a terrible smell at 9pm, and I wasn't sure what to do!  I am new to the area and not knowing what contractor to call, started a "A" and worked my way on.  Tom was the first person and only person to call me back promptly and even though it was far after hours, rushed out when he understood how nervous I was about my new house and the problems it might have.  He discovered of all things, a mouse had made a nest in the furnace pipe thing and after clearing it out and doing his tests, said I would be all set.  Problem solved!   When I have central air installed in the spring I know who I will be calling!

We have been using Nicholas heating and cooling for all of our HVAC needs for the past 12 years and couldn't possibly be happier. Tom and his staff are always prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. Never once have they tried to sell me a service, product or part that I didn't need, in fact, it's just the opposite. I don't know if it's always the case, but Tom has never charged us to just come to the house and "take a look. " I feel that Tom and his staff are very forthright; Tom has both fixed our furnace, and our air conditioning system in the past when we thought we would need new units. The very first time that we called Tom was for the air conditioning system, and we weren't familiar with him yet, he came, told us what it would take to fix the AC, and gave us an estimate. Not knowing we checked with another, well known HVAC company, and they came gave us an estimate and told us that we needed to replace the main conditioning unit, of course their estimate was much higher. Nine years later, when we sold the home, the air conditioning unit was still working fine. If you live in Amsterdam, Johnstown, G'ville or surrounding areas I highly suggest giving Nicholas Heating & Cooling a call; they've always done right by us!
